OUR FOUNDER

Triple XXX hops Farm was established in the spring of 2018. We challenged ourselves to bring some sort of enterprise back home to Winifred/Denton, Montana.

 

We had a tremendous amount of help from family, neighbors and friends in the area. Helping us plant the hops (which is an 8 day project), and building the trellis for the 5 acre farm in the beginning. We are very thankful for the support that the community gave us and the support that has continued from year to year.

We were able to sell our first harvest of hops to Gally's Brewery in Harlowton, MT. That first fresh brew was a success and Gally's continues to use our ground, frozen hops in their beer. They are proud to use our locally grown hops and everyone enjoys their brews!

By year two, we cleaned out an old wooden grain shed. With the tremendous help of some friendly elk hunters we were able to put vertical shelf dryers in place. It is very unique but here at Triple XXX Hops we harvest, dry, grind, vacuum pack, and freeze the hops.

By year three, the hops doubled their production and we have been able to market our hops to many other breweries. We continue to learn how to overcome the challenges that mother nature presents such as early frosts, grasshoppers and much more. Feel free to reach out to learn more and talk to us about our hops.

At the year 4 mark, we are now using a hammer mill to pelletize the hops. We are continuing to evolve as time goes on to offer top notch hops to local brewers.
